ah entropy, such an easy target for physics-education-based humour. increasingly so one might argue for either of two quite pertinent reasons.
well if it’s a law of nature any half-decent creator might have had the decency to write it down somewhere. One day i’ll go back through these and work out which articles they applied to, but right now i should be getting my beauty sleep.

booze and science, almost too good at being bedfellows
a recurring theme: the fundamental importance of the gift that is scientific endeavour.
Case in point was when an acquaintance of mine explained to me how fundamentally, if all research physicists were wiped out in a freak tea-break-related incident tomorrow lunchtime the world wouldn’t really notice. The disproofs of this are many fold, but most of them take a month or more to really kick in.
’nuff said. it could have been cheese, but minerals tasting of vanilla reminds me of the late great george chisholm microphone testing gag. and thus it stays.
another rough for physics world – a quick barb on the difference between physical models of the universe and the actual universe … if the actual universe was a cartoon with a talking dog in it.

yep, particle physics is a beautiful thing. surely it’s only a matter of time before someone tries accelerating a smaller accelerator with a larger accelerator to get really ~really~ fast particles.
and another Schrodinger joke. with an elephant. hmmm, perhaps my winning comedy formula is to simply involve anything but just the basic “cat and scientist” combo. and the victory here is it’s still the same thought experiment. unless, you know, you heard the elephant die or something.
